Come to Redcliffe a coastal community located just North West of Brisbane and experience great local hospitality at the Redcliffe Tavern. This brand new establishment stands proudly on the corner of Anzac Avenue and John St and is moments walk from the ocean, with spectacular views of Moreton Bay.
The design concept used by Brand + Slater Architects ties in with the local coastal environment. The craftsmanship of the bar reflects the hull of an old seaside clinker boat. Wooden planks with overlapping edges are fixed together with copper nails giving the bar rustic appeal. Wooden panels stem from the back wall of the bar over the main bar and through the bulkhead above, as they would on the base of a boat.
Cultured Stone is used on the feature walls and pillars. The earth blend river rock is symbolic of pebbles smoothed over by years of ocean wash. Brand + Slater Architects created a unique carpet design by manipulating an image of pebbles increasing the pixilation size and experimenting with colours that represent those found in the local area.
Strands of marine rope create fixed screens a subtle feature used throughout, tying the seaside theme together. Hanging lamps made of ash and hoop pine plywood nestle within cut out shapes of the timber ceiling and resemble glowing sea urchins and crayfish pots. The space has been used very effectively by Brand and Slater Architects to incorporate TAB, dining, gaming, lounge, DOSA and outdoor deck as multiuse areas. Simple furniture pieces allow human traffic to move unobstructed in and around designated seating areas.
Strong angles define the body of the building and an excellent use of exterior lighting and signage also helps to draw your attention to the venue. Functionality and practicality combine with unique features to create an entertainment venue that is modern and inviting to locals and visitors alike.
